Abstract
This thesis could not have become possible without the support and inspiration of additional individuals. First, I wish to express my heartfelt
gratitude to my supervisor, Professor Mark Owusu Amponsah, and my former supervisor, the late Mr. Joseph Kwarteng Ofosuhene-Mensah of the
Department of Education and Psychology, for their guidance, massive support, useful suggestions, constructive criticisms, and words of encouragement.
I am also grateful to the authorities at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for providing me with the necessary clearance and allowing me to conduct the
study on patients receiving treatment at the facility. Finally, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Rev. Fr. Matthew Tobechukwu Nwanamulu S.P., Rev. Fr. Enoch Asmah, Mr. Lawrence Yaw Kusi and other individuals who made significant contributions to the composition of this thesis as well as to everyone else who made it possible for the fieldwork to be conducted.
